Stabilizing the Strand

A couple weeks ago I helped the Valley Soil and Water Conservation District along with students from Cascade high school on a bank stabilization project just south of Kelly's Whitewater Park, home for whitewater kayakers to play and swallow gnarly north fork water. When Kelly's was built - I think almost 10 years ago- the river channel below changed, pushing more water into a side channel which is now slowly eroding away a bank as the river bends. Students planted willows and built dams upstream by weaving willows in between pine posts to divert the water. In the winter this part of the river will reeze. I wonder how fast it will take the river to change here?
